Edson Tamekuni is a part of a new wave of coffee farmers who are returning home from traveling to cities for school or work, bringing new ideas and skills to coffee farming back with them. He is a member of a three farmer collective called Aequitas in the Cerrado Minerio region of Minas Gerais which promotes specialty-grade coffee. On his farm, Vagrem Grande, he has a 98 hectare laboratory where he experiments with varietals (Bourbon, Yellow Catui, Margogype), processing (honey, washed, naturals), and fermentation. This is one of his natural process coffees.
